چکیده

Abstract The study provided a base of comparison known computational techniques with different fidelity levels for performance and noise prediction single, fixed-pitch UAV rotor operating varying flight parameters. range aerodynamic tools included blade element theory, potential flow methods (UPM, RAMSYS), lifting-line method (PUMA) Navier–Stokes solver (FLOWer). Obtained loading distributions served as input aeroacoustic codes delivering estimation the passing frequency on plane below rotor. resulting forces showed satisfactory agreement experimental data; however, differences in accuracy could be noticed depending applied. wake influence results was estimated based vortex trajectories from simulations those visible background-oriented schlieren (BOS) pictures. analysis scattering effects that ground platform observable even low frequencies.

A Computational Aerodynamics Simulation of the NREL Phase II Rotor

The work presented in this article aims to the calculation of the aerodynamic characteristics of the NREL phase II rotor that is a horizontal axis downwind wind turbine rotor and which is assumed to stand isolated in the space. The Reynolds averaged Navier-Stokes equations combined with the Spalart-Allmaras turbulence model that describes the three dimensional steady state flow about the wind t...

Optimal Cross-Validation Split Ratio: Experimental Investigation

Cross-validation is a widespread method for assessing the generalisation ability of a model in order to tune a regularisation parameter or other hyper-parameters of a learning process. The use of cross-validation requires to set yet an additional parameter, the split ratio. Few texts have investigated theoretically the asymptotic setting of this ratio, and no consensus has emerged. In this cont...

Helicopter Rotor Unsteady Aerodynamics

Unsteady helicopter rotor aerodynamics are complicated. This paper reviews some of the fundamentals and newer developments of unsteady helicopter aerodynamics. Rotor flow is beautiful and complex. Visualizing rotor flow allows for an appreciation of the following theories and solution attempts as well as nature’s complexities. The flow through a helicopter rotor with forward motion is shown in ...

Investigation of Interpolation Strategies for Hybrid Schemes in Computational Aeroacoustics

One key challenge in the numerical simulation of aeroacoustic fields is the huge disparity of scales between flow structures and audible acoustic wavelengths. A volume discretization, resolving both scales from the generating vortex to the desired microphone position, not only leads to a very high number of cells but also to a very small time step size in order to minimize dissipation of the ac...
